What is a VIN Number?

The VIN Number, also referred to as the Chassis number, is a unique car identifying number assigned to your vehicle by the manufacturer. Registration authorities register your car by using this number along with the car's chassis number. This unique number, which has 17 or more digits, depending on the maker, sets it apart from other models and makes.

Where can I find my vehicle's VIN number?

There are multiple ways to locate a car's VIN / chassis number, the various approaches are listed below:

• You can find the VIN on the vehicle's registration certificate.
• Some vehicle manufacturers print the car's VIN on the dashboard usually found on the driver's side.
• You can often find the VIN number printed on a metal strip, near the driver's door. It is visible when you open the driver's side door of the vehicle.
